We are a family property where the land has been plowed, treated, and cultivated for decades with the rigor of natural techniques. A plantation of approximately 7,000 Hass avocado plants that germinated from cloned plants, grew, and today produce high-quality fruit. We respect human values, and all input from outside is inspected according to the same sustainability criteria we adopt at home. We see ourselves as "tenants of nature," since it is from nature that we occupy the space we occupy and the land where we grow our fruit. It is with nature that we learn to coexist in harmony and balance, despite the adversities of agricultural activity and current climatic vicissitudes. Avocado production requires, in addition to investment, a great deal of determination, discipline, and, essentially, skilled and committed talents to transform, over the years, small and fragile seedlings into leafy, fruit-bearing trees. We believe in the concept that inspires our business: to commercially produce tasty and healthy fruits, internationally certified within the standards of quality, sustainability, and sociability, from planting to you. GREENSTONE FRUITS COMPANY is a family business dedicated to the production of avocados for export and the domestic market in Brazil. It represents the realization of a dream, the consolidation of a project, and its implementation and maintenance. It is located in the city of Torre de Pedra, State of São Paulo, at Km 167 of the Castelo Branco Highway. The irrigated plantation with 7,000 productive plants occupies an area of 50 hectares. The estimated production for the coming years is around 300 tons of avocado per harvest. The company also has manufacturing facilities that occupy 500 square meters in an area of 30,000 square meters where it will future produce oil and other commercial products derived from avocado. The existing native forests on the properties, associated with avocado plantations, will be used for educational and ecotourism projects to promote the nutritional attributes of avocados, which are not sufficiently distributed in Brazil. In 2024, we planted 26,000 new native tree seedlings from the Atlantic Forest on our properties, focusing on the preservation of springs and waterways. The reforestation project, already underway, will include the planting of a total of 50,000 native tree seedlings, complementing the existing forests. The fruits produced by GreenStone are Global Gap/Grasp certified, and its professionals are systematically trained and certified in various skills, from planting to selective fruit harvesting. The agricultural planning concept, its implementation, and ongoing care were led and continue to be supervised by Dr. Tatiana Cantuarias, PhD in Plant Science from the University of São Paulo, Escola Superior de Agricultura, and Master in Agriculture from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Faculty of Agriculture, Rehovot, Israel, where she studied stress physiology in avocados for 7 years. She holds a PhD and post-doctoral degree from the Department of Plant Production, ESALQ / USP, Piracicaba/São Paulo, Brazil. She holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences. The GreenStone project she leads follows some basic precepts, as she herself states: "More than ever, it is necessary to reduce the negative impact of human interference on natural resources and restore the biological quality of the soil and the self-generating power of its chemical and physical quality. Only in this way will we be able to efficiently produce fruits of greater nutritional value, greater health, and better commercial quality, without affecting productivity." For Dr. Tatiana Cantuarias, it is important to implement practices that restore soil life in drought conditions, and to achieve this, it is necessary to move sclerophyllous forests to avocado plantations as an alternative to reestablish microbial biodiversity in the soil.
