The Brazilian personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics market continues to record positive results, especially in this period of global economic recovery. In the first seven months of 2022, for example, the sector's exports reached a value of US$ 445.3 million, a growth of 14% compared to the same period last year, and the trend is growth according to the Association of Companies of the Personal Hygiene, Perfumery and Cosmetics Industry (ABIHPEC).
Data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) indicate that, on a national average, Brazilians spend more on beauty products than on food. Indicators like this further stimulate the appearance of new entrants, attracted by the high demand.
In addition to the high national demand for these products, foreign trade is also an important highlight with positive results. The most recent data released by ABIHPEC, which shows the performance of the personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics sector, indicates that in 2021 there was an increase of almost 15% in exports, which reached US$700 million. Almost all the countries of the globe imported Brazilian products, with the South American countries being the main destinations.
Several products make up the list of Brazilian cosmetic exports, with hair products being the most in demand internationally. Then come soaps, oral hygiene products, skin care products, and sunscreens.
