According to the International Nut Council (INC), the search for increased quality of life and healthier eating habits has been stimulating the consumption of nuts, chestnuts and dried fruits, which have increased globally year after year.
Brazil has several options for oilseeds whose plantations are concentrated mainly in the North, Northeast and Midwest regions of the country. This variety has been attracting consumers from all over the world and making Brazilian exports set new records.
According to official data made available by the Brazilian Government, the main destinations for our chestnuts, walnuts and peanuts are Russia, Netherlands, United States, Algeria, Ukraine and Canada. Recently, after a series of tests and investigations, China also granted authorization for Brazilian companies to export peanuts to the Asian giant, thus opening up another important market for the brazilians companies to operate.
Data from the Federation of Industries of Ceará (FIEC) indicate that the state is responsible for around 80% of exports of cashew nuts, with the United States being the main destination.
In addition to chestnuts, walnuts are also highlighted in the brazilian export basket, with São Paulo, Pernambuco and Ceará being the main exporters of Brazilians states, while the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Spain are the main importers.
