Description
Made primarily from fused magnesia and graphite, with phenolic resin as a binder and a certain amount of antioxidant added, this product undergoes hot mixing, high-pressure forming, and heat treatment. To improve the product's oxidation resistance and strength, antioxidants such as metals and carbides are often added. Carbon has good thermal conductivity and a low coefficient of thermal expansion; its large wetting angle with molten slag effectively prevents slag penetration, thus reducing the likelihood of thermal spalling and structural spalling. It is widely used in metallurgical furnaces such as steelmaking converters, electric furnaces, and ladle refining furnaces.
