Nano gel films are usually composed of polymeric materials at the nanometer scale. The polymers used may vary, but some common examples include polyethylene, polypropylene, polyurethane, and methyl polymethacrylate.
These polymers are processed into solution or gel form and then applied to a surface to form a thin, transparent film. During the application process, the solution or gel containing the polymers is spread evenly over the desired surface and then undergoes a curing or drying process to form the solid film.

The addition of nanostructures is what gives the films their special properties. These nanostructures can be created to polymers in the form of nanoparticles, nanofibers or nanotubes. They can be composed of materials such as silica, zinc oxide, zinc oxide or other materials with specific desired properties such as scratch resistance, UV protection, anti-glare properties or stain resistance.

Importantly, nanogel films can have different formulations depending on the manufacturer and the specific application. The materials used vary, as do the final properties of the film.
