Teresinha Cavalcanti is an artisan, who has won national awards. Her works have differentiated features, and an excellent public acceptance. Her art was learned from her ancestors and perfected over the years.
Biography:
Teresinha Cavalcanti da Silva Costa, Tê Cavalcanti, began playing with clay and mud as a child, the site of St. Anthony Cima, Alagoa Nova, Paraíba interior.
The west side of the house where she was born and raised, as was an alley between the house and formed a wall of mud dug for the reforms, since her family was increasing every year. That wall was clay of various colors, so called Barreiro. When it rained appeared wet clay, so getting everything ready for mother nature.
Her mother lent a hand by teaching to make dolls from clay, cliques and little animals such as cows and pigs. Over time her parents started to reprimand, and ordered to stop romp, but it was too late. Therese took the cakes of clay, as the wasp and was playing near the stream to have as washing hands when his parents called.
In 1970 she moved to João Pessoa to resume their studies. Completing a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry in 1979 already with two children.
In 1993, already retired by the Secretary of State for Health and with three grown children, she awoke and resumed childhood dream, to make love with the art for the vocation that God has entrusted to you, because talent can not be buried.
