Description
Brazilian rice for type 1 export, the broken grains can reach a maximum of 7.5% of the total weight of the package. The color of the grains also enters as a factor in this classification. Some spots still appear on the foot, when the grain is bitten by some insect, has contact with moisture or any other adverse condition. Type 1 rice today represents 70 to 80% of the white polished rice market. Parboilizado is expanding, representing 20% (1.5 million tons) of the demand for processed rice, which is 7.2 million tons. The traditional rice processing process presents 65 to 75% of polished grains (whole and broken), 19 to 23% of bark, 8 to 12% of bran and 3 to 5% of impurities.
The classification of rice is based on the physical state of the grains, which varies in relation to their breakage, from 1 to 5, and to grain size, short or long. The global process of economic openness to international trade, together with the emergence of new technologies related to electronic information and communication for commercial and auxiliary purposes in decision making, triggered transformations in the mode of production, marketing and consumption of goods and services. The relationships between the links of the production chain became important. Prices, products and distribution and sales logistics have become inseparable and essential elements in the marketing process. The consumer became an important signal to the production process. In addition, there was the consolidation of consumer preference for "agulhinha" rice.
