Description
SOLAFT™ has been a trusted supplier of filtration media to Australia’s largest coal fired power generators for over 45 years.
Our technical experience and vertically integrated manufacturing have helped us to develop filtration solutions that exceed our customers’ expectations and deliver considerably longer filter life than our competitors.

SOLAFT™ supplies custom engineered woven and non-woven filter media for all Power Generation Dry Filtration equipment, including:
• Shaker bag house
• Reverse air bag house
• Pulse jet bag house

The SOLAFT™ Filter Bag range spans all polymer types from low temperature Polyester through to high temperature Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) fibres to provide the perfect solution for each application.

Our PrimaShield™ and PrimaCell™ finishes have been specifically developed to increase life and performance in these challenging applications.

Our experience has proven we deliver value across the plant, from developing products that improve productivity and reduce costs, to working with our customers on supply and maintenance schedules to ensure the smooth operation of the plant.

Proven Solutions
SOLAFT™ partner with a local power station to significantly improve performance.

The plant consisted of four boiler units with 40 separate cells and over 190,000 Filter Bags.
The power station was experiencing significant performance issues due to shrinkage of a competitor’s filter media which reduced load and raised safety concerns as a result of the constant requirement for inspection and maintenance of the hanger bars.
This power station needed a supplier who could provide a quality filtration solution to improve performance, longevity and stability.

SOLAFT™ worked in partnership with the power station and service operator to design a filtration solution using a custom engineered homogeneous fibre blend combining
Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) fibres.
These new bags were gradually introduced into the bag houses and as the number of SOLAFT™ bags increased across all cells, they observed significant performance
improvements Including:

• Improved filter bag life
• Lowered emissions and maintenance costs
• Reduced flue gas particulate to 0.05g/m3 – well below the limits set in the Clean Air Act
• Increased load capacity with record low filter defects
• Improved safety due to reduced maintenance requirements
• Improved return on investment

SOLAFT™ continue to work to improve performance at this facility.
We regularly collect filter bags for analysis and testing to ensure that they are performing to the optimum levels and report the findings and expected life back to the power station management.
