PDLC smart film is a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal film encapsulated between two conductive interlayers, the interlayer being a plastic substrate (PET) coated with a conductive layer (ITO). By controlling the power supply, the PDLC film can quickly switch between transparent (on) and opaque (off) states. When the smart film is de-energized, the liquid crystal molecules align in scattering positions, resulting in a mismatch in the material's microreflectivity and a strong scattering effect, making the smart film opaque. When the smart film is energized, the liquid crystal molecules align neatly, the reflectivity changes accordingly, the scattering effect is significantly reduced, and the smart film changes from opaque to transparent.
