1.Introduction
PBT is a milky white, translucent to opaque, crystalline thermoplastic polyester with excellent mechanical properties, electrical insulation properties, oil and chemical resistance, easy moulding and low moisture absorption, etc. It is the most commonly used extrusion material for the secondary coating of optical fibers.
In the communication optical cable, the optical fiber itself is very fragile. Although the mechanical strength of the optical fiber has been improved after the primary coating, it is still not enough for the requirements of the cable, so the secondary coating is required which is the most important mechanical protecting method for optical fibers in the manufacturing process of optical cables, because coating not only provides further mechanical protection against compression and tension, but also creates excess length of optical fibers. Because of its good physical and chemical properties, PBT is usually used as the extrusion material for the secondary coating of optical fibers in outdoor optical cables.
We can provide OW-PBT6013, OW-PBT6015 and other grades of PBT material for secondary coating of optical fiber cables.
2. Characteristics:
1) Good stability. Small shrinkage, small volume changes in the use of parts, stable molding.
(2) High mechanical strength. The modulus is large, the extension performance is good, the tensile strength is high, and the lateral pressure value of the casing made is higher than the standard.
(3) High heat deflection temperature. Excellent thermal deformation performance under large load and small load conditions.
(4) Hydrolysis resistance. With excellent resistance to hydrolysis, making the life of the optical cable exceed the standard requirements.
5) Chemical resistance. Excellent chemical resistance and good compatibility with fibre paste and cable paste, not easy to be corroded.
3. Application
It is suitable for the production of secondary coating of optical fiber cables.
