Description
Synopsis:
And if the apocalypse comes, who will be prepared? What if the apocalypse is not as described by Christian translation and the world is taken over by a disease that takes strange people?
Many people are taken by a new virus. Most inhabitants will die; or will be infected, or they will survive. Those who stay will have to survive one day at a time.
The struggle for survival is not easy in this new world. Fight against infection, fight in the search for food. There is struggle between people; or groups for the power struggle.
It seems that people have not changed in this new land, but they will.
A new humanity is in formation. It remains to be seen what it will be like and who it will be.
The story is set in the United States, in a context guided by war in the Middle East after the attack on the Wall Trade Center. The war extended to Eastern Europe, where the first cases of infection with the said virus began. The prologue begins confusingly, purposely, to scare readers with characters from different adjectives – from loving to confused – who will be known more truthfully in advancing the story; and so people will start to create their own theories as the text is being read.
Around the seventh and eighth chapters, new characters, seemingly unconnected with previous narratives, are introduced into the story. With this seemingly indirect relationship, the story advances until at some point the characters begin to connect, and gradually a unit arises between the different nuclei of the plot. Then, the groups come to unite with each other, and a lie whose passage occurred in the prologue – an incident before the expansion of the virus and the awareness of an apocalypse – corroborates the union of people around the groups, driven by revenge.
All motivated by the expansion of Mordebit Morbus, the virus that has plagued the world and can be compared to Ebola, AIDS and smallpox, which have murdered more than a third of the world's population in their respective times of appearance.
In the end, an incident finally clarifies the doubts put throughout the book, including character disorders, plots, deaths, and an incident... In fact, THE INCIDENT; that I defined the next direction of history; Pandemic 2. Now the enemy is another?
People don't change even in the face of chaos.
A delicious combination of suspense, mystery, horror and romance. Pedro Veroneze produced a plot of extraordinary and unbelievable twists and confessions, in this first volume of the series that marked his literary debut. Tremendously funny and philosophical, The Pandemic keeps its readers glazed up to the last page. If you like Walking Dead-style history, zombie apocalypse will tie yourself to this work.
