BSBIOS was established in 2005 with the mission to produce Biodeisel. In 2008, we began producing and selling Biodeisel in the marketplace. We also received the authorization from the ANP (National Petroleum Agency) to export Biodeisel. <br><br>Biodiesel is an ester methyl or ethylic, made from vegetal oils or animal fats. It’s produced through a chemical reaction named transesterification of triglycerides, mixing vegetal oils or animal fats with alcohols (methanol or ethanol), using glycerin or glycerol as a sub-product. The transesterification reaction is catalyzed, and the most used catalyst is sodium hydroxide (caustic soda).<br><br>The chemical process of production of biodiesel is called Transesterification. The vegetable oil, or animal fat (after filtered, dehydrated and reduced acidity) is put in a reactor, warmed and mixed with alcohol and caustic soda. After approximately one hour, the process of decantation is started, where the mixture is separated in two levels: in the top remains biodiesel, and in the bottom, the glycerol or glycerin. After draining the glycerol, the pure biodiesel is “washed” with acidulous water to remove methanol and other impurities. Finally, biodiesel is filtered and it’s ready for the use, such pure or mixed with diesel oil, with no need of modifications on the engines. The manufacture process takes about 8 hours to get completed.<br> <br>Besides biodiesel fuel, the process of transesterifcation also provides Glycerol, a mixture of glycerin with residues of alcohol and caustic soda. This may be used as soap. After purified, glycerin has several uses, including the production of cosmetics in the pharmaceutical industry. Also used to eliminate small insects. Some industries use it as fuel in the boilers.<br>
