Wild turmeric is closely related to the more common turmeric. It has a mild yellow colour, which is similar to that of the common turmeric but the stem is relatively shorter and stouter. This wild variety of turmeric is called as Kasthuri Manjal in Tamil and is used a beauty product. Scientifically called as Curcuma aromatic, the wild turmeric has a better natural fragrance and is used in powder form.
Wild turmeric powder is mostly used as a cosmetic ingredient and powder. It is not used in cooking and is not generally fit for consumption. It has the following uses
